Clues:
On Rt. 10 in Farmington, between Rt. 44 and Rt. 4, find the Canal Aqueduct site (brown sign) across from Aqueduct Lane. There is a small parking area there. Read about the old canal and see a commemorative plaque. Walk the old towpath toward the river. At the informative kiosk, stop and read all about it. Continue downhill a short way. Just beyond the large trees on the right there is a nice new bridge. Cross it and walk beyond the base of the old piling to the next new bridge. With the bridge on your left, look ahead to the long log on the ground. Look behind the the large tree standing next to the log. Please protect the box with rock and bark.
