The Legend of the Fuchsia Fish

Before yesterday and before all that which we remember now, this land grew wild; all that ran, flew, crawled or swam wandered free.
Bees and birds, bears and boars, large and small lived free.
Fowl and fish, frog and fox lived free.
Fruitful was the land, and bright with the colors of feather, fur and fin.
A vibrant kaleidescope of vivid life, frolicking fearlessly.
Harmony reigned, and all the animals lived openly and worry-free.
The lion protected the lamb; the hawk nurtured the mouse; all in multi-hued splendor.
As seasons passed the world turned cloudy.
Slowly, gradually, the skies darkened until the sun was something the animals used to remember.
The rains came, lightly at first, then with a persistence and monotony that drowned out all green, growing things and flooded the peaceful kingdom.
After a time, the clouds eased and the sky tried to brighten, but all the world was still dark and gray.
The sun shied away from the earth.
The animals cried in the dark, calling out "Sun! Sun! We need your warmth!"
But the sun would not respond.
The animals grew desperate for warmth. They continued to beg the sun to return.
"Sun! Sun!" They cried. "We will make a gift for you! Please return to us and we will give you all we have!"
Of course, the animals did not have any possessions. They did not accumulate wealth or earn payment. They had only themselves, their lives, and their colors.
"Sun! Sun!" They cried again, "We will give you our selves!" The animals offerred.
At last the sun responded "I do not have need of animals."
"We will give you our homes if you shine on us to warm us again." The animals countered.
"I do not need a home. I have the whole sky." The sun replied.
"We will give you our colors." The animals said.
"What can I do with your colors?" The sun asked.
"You can bend them and play with them, like the water did when you shone brightly upon it." They answered.
"Perhaps." The sun replied.
The animals all gave their colors to the sun, who gathered them up and bundled them together into a beautiful, curved stripe that encircled the earth.
The sun was pleased.
"I shall now shine for you in payment for your generous gift." The sun said.
The animals were warm again, but sad without their colors.
The sun noticed the animals' sorrow, and wanted to make them happy again. The sun decided to share the stripe of color with the animals, giving a little bit to each one.
"I see you are happy again, and I am happy too with the gift you have given me."
The sun laughed with joy, shaking and sprinkling extra-bountiful bits of color on the earth below. Some animals hid from the shaking sun, fearful of the noise and brightness. Some animals danced in the sun's joy, embracing the extra bits of color and reveling in the warmth.
Much time passed, and man settled on the land.
The animals who had little color thrived, hidden and camoflaged in their homes.
The animals who embraced the bright colors were quickly captured by the men.
The few who escaped were forced into hiding.
Fearful of discovery, the Fuchsia Fish will only present herself to those who search for her with peaceful intent, for she is one of the few who remain free.
After completing Diaz chemical, please return to the original path with the evergreens to your left.
Continue to walk along the main path as you enjoy the sights and sounds of this peaceful area.
You should begin to hear the sound of rushing water.
When you discover the source of this sound find the path which starts on the rock and wire retaining wall.
Follow the path towards the east.
The path will fork, either path is fine they will rejoin shortly.
When you find the area where the paths rejoin look to the left for a concrete block.
Beyond the block is a twinning tree which hides a legend at its base.
Seek her with peaceful intent; protect her and rehide her well.
