LOCATION: Voluntown, CT
THIS BOX IS CURRENTLY UNDER REPAIR. YOU MAY FIND A TEMPORARY BOX IN IT'S PLACE FOR NOW BUT WE'LL BE GOING OUT TO PLACE SOMETHING MORE PERMANENT AND WEATHERPROOF IN THE NEAR FUTURE. 'THE RAM' 10-31-2003
POSTED: 27-Jun-1998
CLUES: Today's adventure starts in the Pachaug State Forest in the town of Voluntown, CT. Enter the park from the Rte. 49 entrance and then proceed to the H.H. Chapman area (this area is the large field on your left near the camping area). Park your car here. From here take a compass heading 305 degrees. Proceed until you see a trail turn to a compass heading of 260 degrees.
Follow this trail until it comes to a high lookout. Now you are near the letterbox location, but first you will need to find a USGS survey marker. Once you have found the marker, take a compass heading of 218 degrees from the marker and follow that heading until you see a while church steeple at a heading of 188 degrees. Once you have those two landmarks lined up, take a third heading of 300 degrees and proceed about 12 paces. Look for the half moon and you will find what you seek.
Good luck.
