REMOVED AND RETIRED DUE TO IMPENDING CONSTRUCTION IN THE AREA. This nature trail is soon to be a parking lot.

TERRAIN: Easy (might be able to do an offroad stroller in dry season)
LENGTH: 5 to 10 minutes walk

BACKGROUND: This letterbox was placed spur of the moment while I was in Augusta for a multi-day meeting. It's a nice quick little walk if you happen to be in the capitol city doing business or if you need to stretch your legs while driving up Interstate 95. If you have the time and money, you might want to book a massage, manicure, facial, or one of the many other spa services they offer (I hear they're wonderful).

CLUES: From Interstate 95, get off exit 30 (turn right off the exit if you're headed north and left if you're headed south) and turn right into the Senator Inn and Spa. From the gazebo with the hot tub near the pool, take a reading of 250 degrees and walk to the swing set. Look for the brown sign directing you to the nature trail. Head into the woods and merge with the trail coming in from your left. Pass by a small cinderblock patio with a stone bench on your right. Pass by a trail leading off to your left. Pass by the rustic twig bench on your right and keep going past the trail leading downhill to your right. When you come to the edge of the woods, continue until you are just out from beneath the canopy of the trees. You should be standing in a clearing with a billboard overlooking Interstate 95 in front of you. On your left you should see a large boulder in front of a twin-trunked tree. The box is hidden on your right between a fallen tree and a large rock covered with a few smaller rocks. Please rehide this box carefully. You may return the way you came, or take a look at the trail map enclosed in the letterbox and try going back by a different route.

NOTE: The best time to do this box is early morning as it is a bit more peaceful. This nature trail is rather close to the highway. FYI- The sign says the trail is for hotel guests only, but many locals walk it and when I asked at the desk the person on duty said it's basically an insurance regulation so they can't be sued if someone accidentally hurts themselves while they're out there (the insurance covers guests). They don't know the box is there, but said if I was passing through and just wanted to get out and stretch my legs on the trail they didn't think anyone would mind.
