HICKORY Letterbox
All along the Blue Trail, you will find that a boy scout project has nicely identified some of the more outstanding specimens of the older trees on this property. Find your way to the "Shagbark Hickory" tree on the Blue trail. Admire this old beauty for a moment, then take 25 paces west along the trail to a younger/smaller version of the same tree. The HICKORY letterbox is on the south side of the base of this Hickory tree, close to the stone wall. (Keep a watch for poison ivy if you stray to far off course).
KINGFISHER Letterbox
Find your way to the Orange Trail. (Orange and Blue trails are one in the same at the point of the HICKORY letterbox above.) Follow the Orange trail to a spot along the river where there is a triangle bench. You can sit here and try to spot a Belted Kingfisher flying back and forth across the river. But if it is the KINGFISHER letterbox that you seek, take twenty paces at 30 degrees, to a fairly large Beech tree (smooth bark). The KINGFISHER letterbox is hidden on the NW base of this tree.
Enjoy !
