UPDATE: Septemeber 1st, 2009 --- Just been notified my box is MIA (missing in action). I will update again once I have a chance to get out there and check on this box. Thanks, SEA-CRET.

Shell Man Letter Box is just off the Rails-to-trails Greenway in Simsbury, CT very close to the Avon border. The Greenway parallels Rt 10 (Hopmeadow St) in this vicinity. There are many places to park for access to this Greenway.

Here is the web-site to the Greenway map and all the places you can park for access as well as directions:
http://www.fvgreenway.org/map5.php

Once you have gained access to the Rails-to-Trails Greenway, proceed to the SIMSBURY / AVON line. There are several Landmarks at this location including a mile marker post "7.4", a big wooden sign that Reads AVON or SIMBURY (depending wich direction you look at it from). You will also notice an access road that vehicles use to the Wildlife Management Area (WMA). Directly across from this access road you will also see a post that's about 10 feet high with solar panels mounted on top. If you see all this, then your at the right spot any very close.

Stand facing North (Towards Simsbury) on the vehicle access road to the WMA. Take 20 to 25 normal size steps north. Look directly to your right and you should see low to the ground an old wooden guardrail. Behind the wood slat I have hidden the "Shell Man" letterbox. I have placed a big piece of bark behind the canister so it should be 100% concealed. Lift up the piece of bark and you should see the canister....be careful though, your in a high traffic area and you don't want others to see what your doing. I had a hard time hiding it there because of all the people using both those trails. There is a bench not too far south from you on the Greenway. That would make a great spot to do your thing!!!

The Shell Man letterbox was created by me (the daddy) and is 1 of 4. We've planted them all on 2/20/05. Our others "Frog-Catcher", Karate Kid" and "Bee-Petter" (all my kids) and they are all at different locations in Simsbury CT....enjoy finding them.
