Frog-Catcher Letter Box is hidden in Simsbury's Open Space at the Intersection of Rt 167 (Bushy Hill Road) and Stratton Brook Road. For those of you who are residents, this was one of several sites proposed (but abandoned soon thereafter) for relocating The Simsbury High School.
There are two ways to access the trail that Frog-Catcher letter box is at.
The first way is at the stop light at the intersection of Rt 167 and Stratton Brook Road. You can see a trail shooting into the woods on the South West corner. Parking may be tricky but I've seen cars parked on the North side of Stratton Brook Road on the dirt section so that they can hike this trail.
The Second way is by parking over at ST. Alban's Church on Rt 167 (Bushy Hill Rd) just 1/4 mile South of Stratton Brook Rd. If you park there, you'll see a great big field behind the church. Take a right and follow the edge of the field heading north (You want to be parallel with Bushy Hill Rd. heading towards Stratton Brook Rd.)

Upon entering this trail (Either from the North end at Stratton Brook or the South End from St. Alban's) follow it for about 1/4 mile or so. Keep following it until you come to stone walls on either side of you....you can't miss these walls. It looks like it was either an old road or somebody's driveway a century or two ago.
Once you think your about half-way through this area where you have sone walls on either side of you, Stop!!
If you are heading North, Turn RIGHT.
If you are heading South, Turn LEFT.
Climb up the embankment of the stone wall....don't hurt yourself. You should now be off the trail and heading directly away from it. Within 10 yards you should come to a HUGE Ditch or Pit.
Down at the very bottom of this Pit, you will see a big old Pine tree that has fallen down. The letter box is directly benieth this fallen tree. I have hidden it at the base of the tree under a big piece of Bark (it is 100% concealed under this big hunk of Bark)at the biginning of the tree (it's base).
Be very careful trying to get down into this pit....it's very steep. You may be better off walking around to the other side where you should have very easy access into this pit then head back to the base of the fallen tree.
The Frog-Catcher letterbox was created by my 9 year old daughter and is 1 of 4. We've planted them all on 2/20/05. Our others are "Bee-Petter", Karate Kid" and "Shell-man" and they are all at different locations in Simsbury CT....enjoy finding them.

PS This 110 acre parcel of Simsbury Open Space land abutts the 600+ acres that the Ethel Walker School owns....it's absolutely beautiful with over 8 miles of wooded hiking trails. So if you want to make this a day in the woods, follow the trails that shoot off of this one and don't forget to pack a snack and something to drink!!
