Archiving due to the fact that VDOT not longer allows geocaching or letterboxing on their properties. Based on past logs on the nearby geocache, the letterbox has also been taken. I don't wish to get anyone in trouble by searching for this letterbox. Thanks to those who did get to find. If VDOT does ever change their mind, I'll replace the box again, and unarchive. For more information on the ban, visit this link on the Northern Virginia Geocaching Association page. http://www.novago.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2780(7/30/12)

Adopted by cycleangela on 3/31/12! The current owner has a border collie, so if you ever see us here checking up on the letterbox, feel free to say hi!

This box has been replaced as of 4/29/12. This is my first attempt at a hand carved stamp, so please be gentle. Please be aware that there is a geocache about 15 to 20 feet away. My box is clearly labled as a letterbox.

This is a quickie box off I-95 south. It's located at the rest area near Frederickburg, VA. Fredericksburg is located halfway between Richmond and DC.

When Oakman and I travel, usually to Alabama, we take our
American Eskimo dogs with us. We are no strangers to Rest Area's. If you see a us on the interstate, between Virginia in Alabama, walking 4 white dogs, tangling us in leashes, say hi. We know which rest area's have good places to walk your dog. As it turns out, this one doesn't have the greatest, but there's a place to go. So grab your leash and Walk the Dog.

Park your car. Head towards the drink machines. There is a sandbox on the way is the "pet area". Let poochie do his business and keep going. Stop at the water spigot and water the thirsty dog. Walk through the the RV and trucker parking. I recommend starting on the lower end of the hill, instead of taking the hard way up. Once you get on top of the hill, you will see a short trail leads into the woods. Watch carefully, as the trail is easy to miss. Just a short walk and on the right you'll see a beech tree(smooth barked tree that is prone to carvings) with some old illegible carvings. From the beech tree take 14 steps(mine, and I'm short) towards the sling shot tree(it's V shaped) you see to the left. Peek through the gap. Walk the Dog is hiding in the hollow log you see.
