Walking distance: about 0.2 mile one way
Trail difficulty: fairly easy, fairly flat.
The answers to the questions in the clues for this webbox are located in Acadia National Park in east-central Maine. Letterboxes are not allowed to be physically placed in national parks and other sites administered by the U. S. National Park Service. So, I have created this webbox. You must actually visit the area of the clues; however, you need to go to the Web to obtain your finders stamp.
Go to the Jordan Pond area of Acadia National Park. Park in the lot by the Jordan Pond House.
On the edge of the lot to the right of the Island Explorer bus stop is a tall grey wooden post with directional signs. Each location is on a separate sign sticking out from the central post. On the top sign what is the first word?
Now, walk back behind Jordan Pond House and follow the Nature Trail down to the pond edge. Look for a colorful interpretive sign titled "Drink in the View". In the paragraph just below the title (starting with the words ”Jordan's Pond clear ...”), in the 2nd line, what is the 6th word?
To create the mystery word, put the word from the second question on the end of the word from the first question (without spaces or caps). Paste the mystery word (all letters lower case) into this URL (replacing the question marks “???” with the mystery word):
http://nostalgia.esmartkid.com/???.html
Now, plug/paste/type the new URL into your web browser and you will have completed your search for the Acadia Park Webbox.
Please record your find at www.letterboxing.org/ .
