This park has an interesting historic fort built in 1898, over six miles of beach and is a wonderful spot for birdwatching, especially during spring and fall migration. Pick up a park map to locate this box. To the trailhead: From St. Petersburg, take the Pinellas Bayway (SR 682) to ST 679 and follow it south to Fort DeSoto park for six miles.

To the letterbox:
Spend some time on Mullet Key
Walk a trail that’s barrier free
Little boxes talk and teach
Soon you’ll stand by the beach
A four mile span, an impressive sight
Five steps at 150, then take a right
Keep on walking ‘til you see
A grand old friend: a five armed tree.
At its base and behind
Bayside Bounty you will find
