CCBL West Box # 5
Wareham Gatemen

stamp: hand carved
This box is 1 of 10. (5 in the west league and 5 in the east)

Home Field: Spillane Field, Rt. 6, Wareham

The Cape Cod Baseball League has been the premier amateur baseball league in the nation since 1885. Many players have gone on to play in the major league. Players from the Braves are: Mo Vaughn, Earl Snyder and Barry Zito. Just to name a few.

You can get a CCBL schedule by going to:
http://www.capecodbaseball.org/Schedules/sched05.htm

All games are free but ask for a donation

Directions to Spillane Field:
WAREHAM GATEMEN – Spillane Field , Rte 6 (Marion Road), near Wareham Center
Route 28 to Mashpee rotary, take Route 151which is second exit and go 6.6 miles, then take Route 28 N for 6.8 miles to the Bourne Rotary. Go over the bridge and continue on Route 25 towards I495 for 6.7 miles and take Exit 1 for Wareham and turn right off exit ramp. Go .2 mile towards lights and bear right on Rt. 6 & 28. Go .1 mile and at the fork in the road and bear left on Route 6 toward Wareham and Marion for 2.4 miles. Just after Wareham center, turn left on Rt. 6 ( Chapel St. ) and .2 mile on the left is Clem Spillane Field directly behind the Town Hall parking lot. If full, continue to Veterans Dr. and this takes you behind the field.

Directions to the box: Find the large rocks that line the basketball hoops. This is to the left of the playground. You will find Wareham gatemen on the right hand side of the rock with the blue paint “blob”. Please re-hide well. This area tends to be a party spot and the area is pretty trashy but I was very limited to finding a place for this box. This box has also gone missing once but I was able to find all the pieces.

Please be very stealthy and re hide very well.

If you plan on catching a game as well as the box, please try to come early or stay late, as these games are very well attended. If you try for the box during a game, please use the utmost discretion, as there are always curious kiddos here.

Be sure to look for the “magic #” in the front of the logbook. Add up the #’s from all 10 boxes and receive the clue to the bonus box.
