From U. S. Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo, drive northwest on State Highway 1 (Santa Rosa Street). Drive for approximately 4 1/2 miles and turn right into El Chorro Regional Park and Botanical Garden (it is across the highway from Cuesta College). Stay to the right, drive into the day use area, and go all the way to the end of the road. Park in the lot next to the “bark park”.
Walk north on the old paved road and through the gate. Continue on the road passing the turn off to Eagle Rock Nature Trail. Continue on the paved road past the turn off to Woodland Trail. You will soon cross over a gully with 2 large steel culvert pipes and 2 whites stakes. Just after crossing the gully and from where the pavement starts again, walk about 30 steps up the road. Turn right and face the hillside. Walk off the road for about 25 steps to a tall vertical rock under the oak tree's canopy. The rock has a narrow vertical rock protrusion on top. The box is on the backside at the base under a flat rock covered with some plant debris.
Please please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag). Please put the lid on tight with clean surfaces. Please rehide the box well under the rock and covered with twigs and other plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction.
Contact me if the box needs attention:
