The letterbox is located in St. Patrick's County Park.
Clues and Walk are Easy! However, if you plan to continue on the trail to find the Porcupine letterboxes the trail becomes difficult and is not for small children or strollers - unless you want to carry them!
The location for this box was discovered by my 10 year old son, Matthew. He also hand carved the stamp found inside the box. It was his first attempt at carving and he did a great job! Happy hunting!!
Enter the park and obtain a trail map. Park near the Fragomeni shelter. (In the winter this parking lot may be closed. If so, park near the Red Barn facing South. Look between the pine trees and you can see the shelter you seek from here.)
While facing the shelter, head for the upper left hand corner where the field meets the woods. Here you will find a path - follow the path into the woods until you reach a clearing. Once in the clearing, locate the map and post number 2. Facing the map, take the trail on your immediate right. Follow the trail down the steps and over the bridge. Now it's time to start looking - on your left you'll see a tree with it's "tongue" sticking out. This tree was kind enough to catch it's neighbor before it fell to the gound. Search the trunk of the fallen tree for the prize you seek.
Do you want to continue on this wonderful trail to find more letterboxes? Check out the clues for the Porcupine boxes.
St. Patrick's Park offers many places to picnic and several play areas for children. You can easily plan to spend the day.
