Flanders Nature Preserve (Whittemore Sanctuary) is in Woodbury on Rt. 64 just 0.3 miles over the line when leaving Middlebury. Going west on Rt. 64 watch for the brown nature preserve sign.
THIS BOX WAS REPLANTED MAY 2013.
From the parking lot take the white trail to the right. Continue past the blue and green trail that will be on your left almost right away. Cross over a board bridge and keep on the white until you come to an intersection with an unmarked trail to the left. Take the unmarked trail until your get to the red trail on your right. Note: The Fantasy Flight box can be found on the red trail. If you are searching for the Flanders Unicorn in May - July months, you will enjoy the sea a ferns as you trek on the red blazed trail. It's beautiful. Nearing the end of the red trail, you will cross a stony section. It is here that you can spot the Unicorn in a 3 stone cave to the left. If you come to the intersection of the white and red trail, you passed it and should retreat 70 steps and look to your right for the 3 stone cave.
After rehiding well, you can go back the way you came or continue either way on the white trail as they will take you back to your car. Note: the Nights of the Red Table is on the blue trail. The white trail is a 3.9 mile loop. Your search for the Unicorn will be close to that in total. thanks for looking for this spirited creature.
