Indian Head Info:
The Indian Head Rock Profile, a rock formation that resembles the head of an American Indian, sits overlooking Shadow Lake in Franconia Notch. The Indian Head Resort, which faces the rocky profile, offers cross country skiing, ice skating on Shadow Lake, a viewing tower, gift shop, dining room and year-round heated pool. In the summer, enjoy fishing, paddle boats and the summer cottages that are on the 180 acres owned by the resort.
Directions to Letterbox:
Start under the lookout tower, where the attractions sign is posted. Before heading to the letterbox, feel free to climb the tower to view the area, it is a beautiful site. Now, with the sign to your right, head straight towards the Indian Tee-pee. Just before the Tee-pee, you will notice a sharp right turn. Take this paved road towards the back parking area behind the Hotel. Next, at the fork you will want to take a right following the sign for “Nature Walk”. Continue down towards the pond. You will pass a “No Parking” sign, bear to the left of this sign. Continuing along, you will want to pass the paddle boat area to your left, and will see a children’s jungle gym on your right hand side. Stop here and notice a small trail straight ahead of you with a concrete beginning. From “THIS” concrete stone, walk 10 paces straight. Here you will now have a small opening to your right, which contains a three-trunked tree. This tree holds the Indian Head letterbox.
**Please Re-hide carefully, as there are Hotel guests in the area as well as other visitors.**
