Mark in the Park
This box is located in Markin Glen Park. Kalamazoo County's newest park. North Westnedge 2 miles south of the Nature Center. The walk includes some hills. Approx a mile total walk.
Park in the lot on the sunset side of Westnedge. Park near the shelter on the right that sits on a hill.
Take Memory Lane to the west and wind with it.
Bend south around French's Island. Rest on the seats under the lone roof, or get a drink of water.
Go back down Memory Lane cruising the north side of French Island.
Take the first path on the north side of Memory Lane.
The path forks. Right is right and up the hill. Rocks on a stumps says you are on the correct path. Keep going up.
Rest at the top table and catch your breath. There are cautious fences tothe west.
While resting, note the path across the pavement from the stump. Take that path. Watch for traffic. Gradual slide down and covered with beaver chew products.
Come to a crossing of paths. Take the 40 degree path. Up the natural rooted steps. Up, up and the first even path.
Two smooth logs at a right angle. Stay on the path. Take 16 steps (I take short steps) or 8 paces to natural barrier. East side of the pile.. You've found the Mark in the Park.
Return down the same path. Left is right. You might want to use the table to place your mark. Back to the Memory Lane and your car.
