This box is in Moabi Regional Park which is near the California-Arizona border. From I-40 take the Park Moabi Road exit which is the first exit west of the state line (exit 153). Drive north on the road to Moabi Park and park at the intersection of Park Moabi Rd. and National Trails Hwy. National Trails Hwy. is historic U. S. Highway 66.

Walk east on National Trails Hwy. You will pass some steep slopes and cliffs on your right. You will then arrive at a “Rough Road” sign. Turn right on the dirt road there. Walk on the dirt road at about 178 degrees (from north) for about 109 steps to just before where the dirt road starts to go steeply up the slope. Then go exactly west for about 145 steps to a large old Mesquite Tree. The box is under the north side of this tree under the outer edge of the tree canopy under some rocks, twigs, and plant debris. Be very alert for snakes, scorpions and other desert critters!

Please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc). Please rehide the box very well under rocks, twigs, and plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction.

I will not be able to check on this box very often; so, please let me know if you find it, or if it needs attention or is missing:

Now go look for my “Moabi 66 - II Letterbox”.

This box is in my “Historic Route 66 Series”. The other boxes in the series are: “Don’t Forget Winona 66 [AZ]”, “Hackberry 66 [AZ]”, “Historic Route 66 [AZ]”, “Moabi 66 - II [CA]”, “Navajo 66 [AZ]”, and “Topock 66 [AZ]”.
