This letterbox is in the Land Between the Lakes N. R. A. (USFS) in western Kentucky. It will help to obtain maps of the area from one of the visitor contact stations. Enter the Land Between the Lakes and drive on “The Trace”. Turn east on the road to the Woodlands Nature Station. Just before you arrive at the Nature Station, turn right (east) into the parking area for the trailhead for the Long Creek Trail (it is across the road from the Center Furnace ruins).
Walk east on the gravel road and through the gate. Continue east on the gravel road until the very large "Hoaker Lake Trail" sign is directly on your right. From that point, continue on the gravel road for about 83 steps. Look to your left and you will see an extremely huge tree (the largest in that area) with three big vertical branches and just above the road. Make your way up to the tree. From the northwest side of the tree, go at about 330 degrees (from mag. north) for about 7 steps to a flat rock covered with some plant debris. The box is under the rock.
Please, please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag), and put all of it INSIDE the box. Please rehide the box well under the flat rock and cover with plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction.
I will not be able to check on this box very often; so, please let me know if you find it or if it is missing or needs attention:
