This box is part of our "school mascot" series that we are working on. Others in the series so far:
- Saxon Territory
- Tartan Territory
Note: As of 7/31/2007 the box is confirmed missing.
To the Trailhead
South Mountain Big Rock Park
Park in the lot on the South side of East Rock Road directly across from Mountain Top Lane. (East Rock Road intersects with PA 145).
To the Letterbox
From the parking lot, follow the road South past the gate. When you reach the fenced in communications towers, follow the left side of the fence. At the end of the of the fence follow the trail South down the hill to Bauer Rock (the really, really big rock).
Climb the rock and enjoy the view to the South of the Southern Lehigh Spartans territory.
Climb back down the rock and stand in the clearing directly to the North of it. On a bearing of 320 degrees there is a large set of boulders (big rocks, but not really, really big rocks). Follow the fallen tree on the right side of the boulders. The letterbox is in a crevice, under a SPOR near the base of the tree. (be sure to bring a pen and stamp pad, as the letterbox has neither)
Enjoy.
