*If you are planning to search for "Sugar Rush", you may also wish to take the clues for "Kitchener's Kettles" - the clues for this second box start from where "Sugar Rush" is found.
Your search begins not at a Lake but another "Great" Natural Area in Kitchener.
Park in the main lot and walk past the living roof. On your right learn how to make your foot shrink, and on your left learn about the biodiversity of this beautiful area. Continue along the paved path into the woods. Where the path turns to gravel make a U-turn. Continue along the path, and at the T go down.
Watch for frogs as you continue along the path. Watch for beaver-chewed trees on your right, and if you're lucky (as we were!) you might even see a beaver up close and personal! Follow the path to the man walking his dog and take their cue at this fork. Keep the water on your right and stay on the trail! You are on the right track if you pass over a bubbling brook. At the next fork, take the path on the side that the moss grows. You will pass a mossy long tree fallen alongside the right of the path. Go to the top of the hill. A large grey four trunked tree stands off to the right - behind this tree under a cover of leaves and deadfall you will find what you seek.
After doing your stamps please be sure to cover the box well. At this point you can begin your search for "Kitchener's Kettles" by continuing along the path through the Upland Woods (which include many beautiful sugar maple trees)or simply retrace your steps back to the parking lot.
*Bring some bug spray & wear appropriate shoes for a light hike. This box is family friendly, but you'll need a sturdy stroller - an umbrella stroller likely won't manage!*
