My nieces and I started letterboxing this week (we LOVE it!!), and we planted our very first box today! They come for a week-long visit each summer around the 4th of July, so we plan on placing at least one box each summer together!
Our box is located at North Bossier Park (otherwise known as Brownlee Park). It’s a great park that has a wonderful playground with tons of sand to dig in, “rocks” to climb, and a super-fun water play area (during the summer months only, of course)! Pack a picnic and enjoy a day at the park while boxing!!
Next to the playground is a large soccer field, and, around the entire park is a great trail for biking, running, walking, etc. This trail will lead you to “Summer 2010”!
• Begin by traveling over a giant metal tube. A lap around the slides won’t get you there.
• When you must make a choice, we suggest that you turn left. Going right would be thewrong long way, and as for clues – you’re on your own!
• As you walk along, you’ll notice a large party of trees on your right, and a place where picnickers eat on your left.
• Just keep following the path – a backwards, red “S” at your feet is a good sign!
• A little further along, a turquoise arrow pointing left means you’re very close – keep going, but don’t follow the arrow!
• Soon, you have another choice to make…if you took our earlier suggestion, turn left (on the other hand, go straight).
• You’ll soon come to a spot where a large quartet acts as sentinels to the path that leads to the Tennis Complex.
• Stop and visit with the first on your right – he’s the friendliest of the bunch!
This is a fairly simple box to arrive at, and there is a nice little prize inside for the first one who finds it! We would love to hear from anyone who finds it (or tries but can’t)!
