Governor Patterson State Park is located just south of Waldport on the ocean side of Hwy 101. Named for a former governor, it provides parking, picnic tables, benches, restrooms and easy beach access.

Look for sea shells as you walk along the beach. Sand dollars are often seen here. If you walk north along the beach you will soon see the mouth of the Alsea River.

Before you leave, look to see where the restrooms are located. A line of posts extends along a trail toward the highway. The last post is nearly hidden in the shrubbery. Walk south approximately 13 paces and you will find yourself under a spruce tree that offers an umbrella-like shelter. Behind this tree is the seashell you seek.

Be careful, this can be a busy place! Please hide the box well and avoid those who may be watching.
