**FIRST FINDERS CERTIFICATE for first finders**

The trail outfit is entering Hunnewell
The candles are lit in the Hale Hotel
There will be music and dancing all through the night
Courting and loving until broad daylight.
from The Old Cimmaron...H.H. Halsell

The booming railhead of Hunnewell, KS has seen it's better days. To get to Hunnewell take Exit 231 on I-35 (Braman exit). Take 177 North about 3 miles you will see a Historical marker noting the first newspaper published in the Cherokee Strip. 2-3 more miles up the road you will cross into Kansas and enter the metropolis of Hunnewell.
There is a great marker on the West side of 177. The marker gives Hunnewell's history as a railhead for shipping cattle. The other side of the marker gives the history of the Cherokee Strip.

After reading this marker get back on 177 North and turn West on the next available gravel road (500 E. 190th). The box is under the evergreen on the corner of this intersection. BEWARE, There was a lot of barbed wire around this tree so watch your hands. In the pasture to your South is a small buffalo farm. Pretty neat to see if you are not used to seeing them.

Happy Hunting,

Lil' Bucs

P.S. Joslyn (7 yrs old) designed this stamp, pretty cool!
