August 15th, 2015 --This box has been taken and will be rehidden one year from now or this fall- we'll see. Do not look for this until I edit the page again.

When I hiked up to the cliff/point there was a new warning. The cliff area was closed off to the public until August 1st.

There are three different starting points to to get to the cliff.

1.

2. Park in the Moosalamoo Campground behind the mountain. I have never been this way, and have had misleading information on how hard or easy this hike to the cliff might be.

3. (This is the one you should choose!)Park just south of Branbury State Park, and its campground (route 53), the trail heads for Silver Lake (On the East side of the road there are two parking lots, either will do) Follow trails beyond the falls of Lana. There should be signs for Silver Lake, take the Rattlesnake Cliff Trail. This should take two hours for those who don't hike all that often. This not a flat hike, but can be accomplished by older children.

You are looking for the cliff that faces due west. The view is looking down over Lake Dunmore and on clear days you can see Lake Champlain and New York State. Well worth the hike up!

ok... Find the tree stump with the faded rectangle painted on its west side. From this stump take 40 paces north. You will be stepping up and over a few rock outcroppings. Look east (up the mountain). You should be below a rock ledge wall. Above this wall to the east will stand a large six foot stump. The top three feet of bark should be gone. On a shelf (half foot cave)in the rock wall, directly below the stump in a line going west will be the box. The hike down should take an hour. Remember about August 1st. Please e-mail me about the hike. (Especially anyone who has done this when the leaves have turned!)

Stamp is not carved (though I like it), it was my first placement.

PS I think there is a Geocache over by Silver Lake.
