DIFFICULTY: Moderate
DISTANCE to LETTERBOX: .3 miles

DIRECTIONS: The box is located along the Chisholm Trail in Plano. Go to the parking lot at the north-east corner of Custer and Country Place, across the street from Schimelpfenig Library.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: There are public restrooms at the library & a gazebo with picnic tables. Bring bread for hungry ducks. The terrain is light an easy, but watch out for bikes on the trail.

BACKGROUND: This letterbox is also near a bookcrossing book-box. If you're interested in a book exchange, go to www.bookcrossing.com and register the book you'd like to trade. After making the exchange, you can create a journal entry on bookcrossing to show everyone the updated contents of the drop box. Pretty cool, eh? To view the current contents of the dropbox, just visit the link. The books are traded on the sale rack in the library entrance, not in the letterbox.

Geocachers also visit the letterbox, so you may want to bring items to trade in the box too. Please do not take any marked coins or items with metal TravelBug tags though, as they are special to geocachers.

CLUES: From the north end of the parking lot, you'll see the concrete bike path. Begin following the bike path WNW and go under the Custer Road bridge. On the other side of the bridge, you'll see the creek on your right and a picnic gazebo on your left. Keep walking on the path until you reach another road bridge over a small stream.

Standing at the south side of the bridge (watch for cars!), look south along the concrete canal. On the west side of the canal are some small trees. Begin walking along the west side of the canal under the trees. Eventually, the canal makes a slight westward bend, where there are 2 manhole covers.

Standing on the southern-most manhole cover, at a bearing of 260 degrees true, you should see a small tree, and behind the tree, a large bush. Look under the bush for a small black box.

Good luck!
