Drive-by
Plenty of parking for RV or trailer, Wheelchair, stroller accessable

NOTE: May, 2014, Please take a smallish log book and a plastic box with you. I received a report that box was cracked and log book wet, but stamp is still there (I hope!) I am out of the area so would appreciate the maintenance!

Take Highway 6 north from the middle of Bishop. After traveling 3.8 miles turn into a dirt/gravel area near the intersection of highway 6 and Silver Canyon Road. Look behind and under the white boulder. On the front of the boulder is a plaque commemorating the first white settlers in northern Owens Valley establishing “Owensville” in 1861. In 1864 it was deserted for better pickens elsewhere. Be descrete! This driveby is very visable to any and all vehicles driving by. After stamping in you might want to check out Laws’ claim to fame, just about ¼ mile further on Silver Canyon Road.
