This is the first in a series of possibly 12 letterboxes to be placed by the offspring of 2 letterboxing families.
General Directions: Park at the Bussey St. Entrance of the Arnold Arboretum. The Arboretum is located in Boston's Jamaica Plain neighborhood. For a map, go to: www.arboretum.harvard.edu/visitors/map.html
NOTE: The trees in the clues listed below have defining labels on them.
Clues: Enter the Bussey Street entrance and head down the paved path until you see a podium with a white plaque on it, on the right, which tells of the Hemlock Hill Research.
Go up this dirt path and pass a Northern Red Oak on the left. Pass this tree, to the next one, which is a Black Oak.
Standing with your back to the tree and facing across the path, Go 29 paces to an Eastern White Pine.
Standing with your back to the tree and looking uphill, right in front of you, see a Northern Red Oak. This oak tree is parallel to an Eastern White Pine. Go to it.
Stand with your back to this pine and face uphill. Go to the largest and closest tree diagonally uphill from you. It is an unmarked tree with a hole in the bottom where, behind some sticks and leaves, you will find your treasure.
