This box is part of a series of letterboxes highlighting some of the unique features of various city parks in Urbana. An Urbana Park District guide might be helpful (or visit their website at www.prairienet.org/upd). Please bring your own inkpad and pen.

This park is the oldest in the park district. It is also the site of the labyrinth, though the clues won't take you near it.

Start at the boathouse. Go over the bridge and follow the path past the playground. Pause by the fountain and watch the geese swimming. Continue following the treeline north. Take the bridge over the Saline Branch. From the bridge, look another wooden structure. Head directly toward it. There will be an obstacle in your way. Stand at this obstacle (at the middle) and look slightly to your right to find where the upright of the railing for the stairs intersects a small wooden retaining wall. At that spot, tucked against the wall and under a rock, is the letterbox. This is a microbox, so look carefully. This lonely stretch of road is a great spot for rollerblading since there is rarely any traffic.
