Pilgrim Monument

Park at the intersection of Route 6 and Snail Road. Head north through the woods and emerge at the dunes. Head straight -up and over the first small dune. Then continue on the trail at 30° up and over the Big One. At the top you can see the Atlantic Ocean and some of the Dune Shacks: Zara (peaked roof) at 25°, Boris at 5°, and Euporia at 340°. Go around the swale and head down hill. Take the path at 40°. At the bottom of the dune, pass through some bayberry and cranberry. Walk just a touch more to a stand of pitch pine. Find the first pine on your right that is close to the path (5 steps) and look under a low branch on the east side. The box is plugged into the needles and covered with some small logs.

The beach is an easy 10 minute walk from here.
Off-season ~Sept~June~ Continue on the path until you emerge at the jeep tracks, near the CBS ruins. Head North on the jeep track, then stay right. The track winds around and brings you to a Y. At the Y take a left past the pump. Then head uphill at the sign.
Summer season~ Continue on the path until you emerge at the jeep tracks, near the CBS ruins. Go left. Stay on the track until the crossroad with the big tree. Go right, up and over the dune to the beach.

Before you stretches the Peaked Hill Bars. The land turns NW and eventually becomes Race Point. To the SE is Truro and Highland Light. Behind you is the Pilgrim Monument.

Notes
It takes about 30-40 minutes to reach the ocean from Snail Road. Walking through the dunes is taxing but very rewarding. Bring water and your binoculars.
