Clues – Moderately easy.

Trek – Less than 1 mile with several manageable hills.

Kids and Dogs - Dogs on a leash are allowed on the hiking trails. Good walk for kids, but leave the stroller in the car. Park has a great playground for the kids, and has picnic tables and restrooms as well.

Clues:

A long time ago, in a Park on a Hill, the Wilbur Logging Company founded a company Town. A small town, playful in nature, with its own cook house and town hall. But all the hustle and bustle of the lumberjacks drove the original occupants, including the jokester Raven (known as Nankil'slas to his people) farther up the hill.

If you want to see that jokester for yourself, you’ll have to talk to the McGauvran at the northeast corner of his store. He’ll point 85 and tell you to take 15.

Look down—it seems the townsfolk dropped a few things. Follow this hardware path to its end, then continue another 15. You’re faced with a choice, aren’t you? Take the left. (As you walk along, you can see the Western Union office through the trees, and hear the crack of bats.)

When faced with another choice, head for the high ground, as befits a bird. Far ahead, you’ll see a little white man whose lead you should follow. (In the summer and early fall, this stretch is tasty!). The kids may want to roll down the hill, but you’ll stay on the path into the madrona grove.

When faced with another choice, opt for the higher number. The next choice should be child’s play. Enjoy the sights, sometimes there are dragonflies. Be sure to stay on the main path! As you come down a gentle slope, you we see two mossy maple gatekeepers, one on each side of the path. In a cubby in the base of the southern sentry, on the southeast side, is hiding the black part of Raven’s split personality.

Continue on, avoiding the neighbors. Interesting, the sign says play isn’t any nearer! We’ll go to the gardens, then. Not too far, there is a straggly-looking stump on the right, with a path leading up into the huckleberries. Climb over the arching branches and under the others until you reach a log laying on the ground across your path (NOTE: Recent finders have told me this log has been cut). Where it intersects another fallen log on your right, reach behind, and see Red.

You can backtrack and continue on the main path, or keep going on this little path, to join up with the gravel track that leads back west to the small Town of Wilbur in the Park on the Hill, right where you began.
