"THE HIKER" BOX (this is for the more hardy hiker)

1. Park at the Laurentian Divide "rest stop" 4 miles N of Virginia,
MN. on highways 53/169 (Road construction lane closure allows access to the picnic area and trail head.)

2. Pick up trail map from USFS box at the beginning of multiple trails, then take the "Physical Fitness" route to the first post/sign

3. Turn LEFT at post, then take the FIRST RIGHT (at junction E). Follow this trail, ignoring - OR taking time to try - the fitness places. Shortly you will come to the "Long Distance Trail" (Jct. C)
and turn LEFT.

4. Walk up the hill to the top where the worn trail turns RIGHT, and follow a "sort of" trail over the rocky ledge, keep going. The trail becomes clear and narrower and it passes through some woods, then up a steep, but not hazardous, climb to the "Lookout Overlook".

5. When you arrive at the top where the woods open up, turn RIGHT - take 47 paces toward the overlook view. It's worth it, even if there was no letter box nearby - but there is!

6. Now look directly to your RIGHT. Do you see the overturned tree with its roots facing you? Now, go to the back left side, and look where the tree and root meet. There is a small group of rocks. See anything? You do? GREAT!
