Please Note: Specific permission for letterboxing has neither been requested of nor granted by the area administrators, so discretion is appreciated.

Grandview, MO has 15 wonderful and diverse parks with amenities for all ages including playgrounds, sports fields, swimming pools, shelter houses, picnic areas, a skate park, a community center, bike and hiking trails and more. Leterboxes in three of Grandview's parks--Meadowmere, John Anderson & Freedom--have a central theme with a positive message. Enjoy Grandview's parks and consider visiting nearby Longview Lake while you are in the area.

Freedom Park is north of the Grandview City Hall and is home to the Grandview Depot Museum. KC Southern RR built a depot in Grandview in the 1890's. The last train to carry passengers stopped in Grandview in 1967. If you'd like to visit the museum, hours are Friday 1-4 and Saturday 11-2.

Directions to Freedom Park:
From 71 Hwy, take the Main St exit in Grandview and go west to the stop light at 15th St. Turn right (north) on 15th and go two blocks to Jones Ave. Turn left (west) on Jones to 13th St. The park is on the southwest corner of this intersection. Turn left (south) on 13th and park on the street or in the city parking lot just to the south of the park. Freedom park is samll so there isn't much walking involved.

Walk past the gazebo to the red caboose next to the museum. Go to the steps on the northeast side of the caboose. Place your hand at the bottom of the curved handrail next to the steps (about 3 feet south of the steps) and face the caboose. Reach up under the caboose and feel for a brick inside a "cubby hole" on the left. (Or bend over and look for it under the caboose.) Scoot the brick away from you to expose the letterbox. The gazebo provides a pleasant place to stamp your notebook, but the park is routinely used so please be discreet. Remember to scoot the brick back in place to hide the letterbox because children often play around and beneath the caboose.
