Clues

Driving Directions:

From Rte. 95 Take exit 11A Neponset St. Canton. Follow Neponset St until your first right. Take first right onto Walpole St. at flashing yellow light (Neponset St. curves to left under Aquaduct). Follow Walpole St. for a little over a mile, when you pass Dedham St. on your left pay attention, parking will be on your left shortly after passing Dedham St. You will know you are in the right spot when you see the Green sign for Town of Sharon Land and Water Conservation, and .4 miles to Warner Trail. (As an aside the Warner trail is apparently a footpath that goes from Canton MA, to Cumberland RI)

Clues:

Park car and take stairs into woods. Take a right onto path at top of stairs, follow this path for awhile, at the first intersection the main trail goes to the right and a side trail branches left (straight) to some rock formations. Stay on main trail, which is marked by blue triangles with black pine trees. At the next T-intersection take the trail that heads southeast. Follow this trail for awhile, eventually it is marked by red-blazes. Watch for when the trail goes downhill and over a stone wall. This section of the trail is very fern covered and has a different feel to it than the rest of the trail. Shortly after the stone wall there will be a large root covered mound to your left. It has large holes leading into the mound, and looks like some kind of burrow for animals, so be careful. Shortly after the mound the trail heads uphill again. Partway up the hill on your right there is a two-trunked birch, and a three-trunked maple. Look between these two trees to spot the five-trunked oak about 30 steps off the trail straight ahead. In the basin made by these five trunks is the "Above and Below" letterbox. Please make sure to properly rehide, cover with debris, including some dead branches and rocks, just leaves will blow away. Make sure that the logbook is double-bagged, and that both bags and container are tightly sealed please! Thanks and Happy Hunting!
