Long Pond Conservation area in Marstons Mills.

Stamp: Hand carved
Terrain: wooded trails few steep hills
Dogs: welcome on leash (they can stop and swim along the way)

Directions from Rt 28 in Cotuit. Take Santuit-Newtown Rd North Follow this road about 2.2 miles the entrance is on the left.

This trail can be up to 1.5 miles of moderately easy hike. There are some steeper hills but nothing to drastic. (My 2yr old does them) And I will include direction for a shorter hike as well as a longer one. ***for super short directions email me!***

From the parking lot, take the main trail (near the yellow gate) The trail is numbered so this will help you along the way.
Stay to the right.
When you get to #8 go left.
Stay to the right.
Next decision, go left.
Go straight threw the clearing and Right at T (pass #13 on your right)
Left at the Y
FOR THE LONG WAY:
Right at the Y Notice the cool Stewartia Tree. (native of the orient) We love the bark on this tree.
Left at the T # 18 will be on your right a few steps up.
Go up the hill..(we call this heartbreak hill)
Follow along the path with the water on your right.
When you see a tree lying down pointing towards the main path…you’ll see a “not so obvious” path that veers to the left. Take the left path. (if you mess up here and go to the right it will come out….just a bit of a further hike)
You’ll know you’re on the correct path by going about 25 steps and seeing #20 on your right.
Path goes left, as you’ll start to see water on the left over the hill
Pass the “naked” pine on the right
And step over the fallen tree to see #21 at the T go right
(To the left you’ll see that cool tree.) Now follow short way directions
SHORT WAY:
Left at next decision. Notice the Cool Stewartia Tree with the cool bark
Past the trail on the right and up the hill
#24 on Left at top of hill
Through the meadow
Past #26
Right at T
Past #27
Stay left at #28
At #29 notice the pet cemetery off the trail a bit on the right
Now go back to the main trail(back to 29)and only about 2-3 steps find the fallen tree near the edge of the trail. you will find long pong LB under the falled tree where is crosses another fallen tree(Covered with bark)
After stamping in continue on down the trail.
At #30 go right.
This is the main trail you came in on and will bring you back to the parking area.

These directions sound a lot harder than they are. You can go to WWW.Town.Barnstable.MA.US on the left click on departments
Scroll to Conservation Division then click Conservation trail maps and guides. This will give you a map and interpretive trail information. Or you can go to the Natural Recourses office on Phinney’s Lane in Centerville (across from the Barnstable Police Station) and they might have the packet of all the town trail maps but they tend to run out a lot.
Have fun and enjoy the wonderful views
