Vedauwoo is 16 miles east of Laramie, Wyoming and about 30 miles west of Cheyenne, Wyoming. It is just a mile off of Interstate 80 which runs between the two cities.

Whether you come from Laramie or Cheyenne, you will need to take Exit 329, the Vedauwoo exit. From Laramie you will turn left and go under the interstate lanes, from Cheyenne you will turn right.

Either way, you should go over a cattle guard as you cross the fenceline that borders the highway.

From this cattle guard, drive 1.6 miles to a small parking area on the left of the road that is bordered with a pole fence and has a gnarly tall pine tree in the middle of it. (You will drive by the main Vedauwoo entrance on the left and then another parking area with an outhouse on the left, it is just around the bend from that one)

This parking lot is surrounded by a three tiered rail fence, but on one section the middle tier is removed making it easier for people to crawl through. Go to this section and look towards the large Vedauwoo rock formations.

You should see a big rock pretty much in front of you that is about the heght of a tall adult. Then down the gentle slope you should see a large cluster of tall bushes.

There should be a gently worn path to the left of this rock and to the right of the cluster of bushes.

Follow this path.

Cross the small stream at the bottom of the slope and follow the path up towards the large vedauwoo rock formations that are closest to you. (They are rather straight walled and climbers are often seen in the large crevices and cracks)

After about only 40 yards, you should come to an old road.

In front of you or to the left should be a group of large boulders. The boulders have a rail fence that comes to their left and then stops. The fence starts again to the right of these boulders.

From where the fence starts again, count down 8 sections of the fence. (Before you start, you may want to cross over to the other side of the fence)

About 10 steps away from this section of the fence(on the non-road side) are two large pine trees bordered by large flat rocks.

The letter box is at the base of the pine tree farthest from the fence. It should be nestled between some rocks at the base of the tree and covered with pine cones.

Congratulations! Hopefully you have found it with ease!
