THIS IS THE SAME STAMP, BUT AS OF 12/01/05, IT IS IN A NEW LOCATION DUE TO BULLDOZING OF SAND AND TREES AT IT'S OLD LOCATION.

Clues: Easy. Drive-or-walk-by.

This box has been relocated a little south of it's old location. This is it's third home. It was first dislocated by winter swells and moved up higher near the road, which is now being being cleaned of old dead trees and their roots.

Carmel Beach is one of the most beautiful white sand beaches in the world. As you stand on Scenic Drive, which runs alongside the entire beach, you can see the famous golf courses of Pebble Beach to the north, and Pt. Lobos State Park to the south. Gorgeous. This area has sure changed since I was a child growing up here, but the beach is timeless.

From Hwy. 1 look for the Carmel, Ocean Ave. exit and head down the hill, through downtown, and down to the water. Ocean Ave. runs all the way to the water. Look for the left turn closest to the ocean. It is up a bit from the Ocean Ave. beach parking spots. Turn left on Scenic Drive.
Follow this beautiful drive a ways until you have passed the beach. It will start to wind a bit and narrow. There are usually many walkers on this stretch and you could join them on a nice walk. This is the stretch of road between Carmel Beach and Carmel River State Beach,(equally gorgeous but has deadly undertow). At the intersection of Scenic Dr. and Stewart Way you will find your treasure. Stewart Way doesn't have a road sign, but is the next road south of Ocean View Ave. Across the road at the bottom of Stewart Way is the ocean. Look for an old wooden fence that runs from Scenic down to the water. On the right side of that fence look for some windswept cypress trees that run alongside the fence. The tree closer to the water has your prize hidden along it's roots on the fenceside. This tree is only about 10 feet off of Scenic Drive, so be stealthy while pulling it out.

Have fun - be stealthy - be sly
