PLANTED BY: The Gentleman & Cactus Licker

DIFFICULTY: This is a short (15 - 20 minutes each way), but slightly steep hike on rough terrain, probably not for younger kids

DISTANCE to LETTERBOX: 200 yards.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: The box is inside Possum Kingdom State Park, not far from the lakeside campsites. Enjoy the dozens of deer, wild turkeys, raccoons, foxes, bobcats and of course possums which wander freely, but look out for cactus!

DIRECTIONS: Possum Kingdom State Park is about 3 hours west of Dallas; Take Park Road 33 off Highway 180.

CLUES: Enter the park, and obtain a map of the campgrounds. Follow signs to the Lakeview campsites, numbers 22-38 beside the Boat Ramp. Across the road from the Boat Ramp is a restroom building. From the Men’s Restroom sign, go 10 steps towards the rear of the building. Take the trail to the right about 10 steps until the trail splits. Take the trail to the left at 260 degrees, and proceed along trail for about 70 steps.
You will have reached a trail that runs crosswise right to left directly in front of you. Take 25 steps to the right until you find yourself next to a telephone pole. Turn west and take 22 steps. Turn south and follow this trail all the way to just before the crest of the hill.( At about 44 paces, the trail turns southwest and then shortly afterwards it turns south again…just keep following it)
You will soon spy a stone ledge. Facing the ledge, go left to the base of a cedar tree. Look behind the 2 flat rocks propped up against ledge cavity.
Watch out for varmints!
