Wacky Tacky Texas#1: Lenin Statue
Now don’t get us wrong – we LOVE Texas…but in the same way you love your own family, despite ( or maybe because of) that eccentric old aunt with the 15 cats named Barney or the strange second cousin who collects stubs of used chalk. There are wondrously weird things in Texas, and we’d like to take you to a few of the wackier ones...

BACKGROUND:
This letterbox was first placed near a larger-than-lifesize statue of Lenin in front of the original Goff’s hamburgers in Dallas. Just before the restaurant relocated, the statue was sold on EBay to Will Bunker, and moved to his catfish farm in Arkansas. One can only imagine how Lenin would have regarded this shining example of American capitalism at its best.

CLUES:
In the 75074 zipcode area there is a street with 6 letters. The first three letters form a colour used to describe the army organized by the BOLSHEVIKS during the Russian civil war of 1918, and subsequently used to describe anything communist. The last three letters form an abbreviated American slang word for COMRADE.

From this street, make your way east to the street named for the Roman god. Proceed north about one block and find the park on your left. Locate the pavilion and look north towards the creek.
There are two bridges, one with handrails painted white to your left and a brown metal one to your right. Take the sidewalk towards the white bridge, and cross to the opposite bank. As soon as you cross over, turn around and face the direction from which you came. Very carefully take a few steps down the bank immediately to the left of the bridge. Reach underneath the concrete pad supporting the bridge. Please replace very carefully – not so far in that it’s impossible to retrieve, but far enough so that kids walking down the dry creekbed won’t easily spot it. SPASIBO!!!
