New hiding spot as of 5/24/15! This letterbox has been fixed up to new condition. A Hitchhiker has been included as an added bonus for the first person to find this box!

Difficulty: 2 options - one is a 3 mile roundtrip hike, the other is a very quick walk down a trail and back. Once there, it should be somewhat easy to find. Note: Bring your own ink (green is best) and pen/pencil.

Frog Pond is located at the Moss Rock Preserve in Hoover. Instead of a pond, it is more of a muddy slough with a lot of loud bullfrogs.

There are 2 ways to get to this letterbox: you can either park at Boulder Field Trailhead parking lot, find "Old Hat" and continue on the trail to Frog Pond OR you can use the Sulfur Springs Trailhead parking lot. Option 1 will offer you a beautiful hike through a the nature preserve whereas option 2 will offer you a very quick find.

Both options lead you to a clearing with a lot of gravel on the red colored ground. If coming from Old Hat, Frog Pond will be on your left. If coming from the Sulfur Springs parking lot, it will be on your right.

From the clearing, you'll see a post with a sign marking Frog Pond (this sign does NOT include a number). Standing next to that sign, walk 14 paces SSE down the trail towards 3 boulders near the road (Preserve Parkway). Once you've walked the 14 paces, look to your left for a tree leaning at about a 45 degree angle. About 3 paces behind that tree is another tree with a large mossy hump at its base. You'll find the letterbox in the hump hidden behind some rocks. Take precaution when reaching in and make sure to re-hide very well.
