First finder; The End Gang

To get to Burr Pond, take Rt 8 to exit 46. Turn West at the end of the exit and go to the stop sign. (Marino's Restaurant will be on your left). Turn left on Winsted Rd, and drive for about a mile, to the blinking yellow light. Take a right onto Burr Mt. Rd. Less than a mile up the road is the entrance to the park. In the summer, you must pay to park here, so go a bit further to the entrance to the boat launch, where you can park for free. It makes for a little longer hike, but it is worth it.
Follow the blue blazed trail on the east side of the parking lot. This is a nice easy hike along the edge of the pond. Depending on your walking speed, you will come to the beach area (10 minutes or so). Cross the beach, and pick up the trail on the other side. It is not marked here, but look for the concrete remains of the dock ahead of you, and the gazebo on the left. Follow this trail along the water's edge until you come to the waterfall. You will see the blue blazes again, and follow them down to the bridge. Cross the bridge and follow the dirt road until the blue trail forks to the right. Take this and go along the edge of the pond once more. After 10 minutes, look for a large boulder on the left (12 feet high or so), with a sheer face covered in moss. Start looking for a trail marked with a blue blaze with a white square in it on the left. Take this trail and follow up the hill. Watch for a very large boulder with two trail markers on it at the top of the trail. What you have come for is at the East end of the rock. Stamp in and carefully re-hide the box.
You can return the way you came, back down to the blue trail, and follow it to the left, which will eventually bring you back to your car. There are other letterboxes in the area, as well as more trails that continue on to other great hiking spots.
