This letterbox is in Little Bennett Regional Park near Hyattstown.
Take I-270 to exit 18. Take Clarksburg Road (Route 121) over the traffic light at 355 approximately 2 miles. Shortly after the Froggy Hollow Schoolhouse trail crosses 121, turn right onto “Kingsley Road” – really just gravel parking lot where several walking/riding trails come together.

From the parking area, follow Kingsley Trail east as it follows Little Bennett Creek. Where Purdum meets Froggy Hollow go right. If your a kid a heart, enjoy the 'swing' as you cross the creek. Watch out for the troll!

Ahead of you is one of the few 19th century one room school houses still existing in Montgomery County. Built in 1893 in an area known locally as "Froggy Hollow", the Kingsley school house served the community until it closed in 1935, when the great depression forced families to leave the area to look for work.

TEACHERS PET

Kingsley longed for the day to end. It was her favorite time of the year. The days were getting shorter, the weather turning cooler and the leaves turning beautiful colors of yellow, red and orange. When Miss Lillien dismissed the children from the schoolhouse, Kingsley ran from the front door and down the path toward Froggy Hollow Schoolhouse Trail and home. She slowed to a walk to enjoy the beautiful afternoon. She passed a large white rock on her right and looked up at the sun shining through the trees. She continued past the rock 20 paces and looked up again and noticed to her right, two large stumps on the hill. She was intrigued by the larger 5 foot stump with its lichen covered top and rotting bark. There she found the most interesting teachers pet.

SCHOOL DAZE

Coming back down the hill from this box, going right, away from the schoolhouse, Kingsley hurried towards home, the sun was getting lower in the sky and she did not want to run out of daylight on her long walk.... up hill both ways... home. When she reached the sign for Froggy Hollow Schoolhouse Trail to the right, (straight ahead is often a large puddle of water) she started up the hill. It was getting darker and the trees along the path seemed spooky in the darkening sky. She heard an owl and it made her jump! Kingsley walked up the hill and stoped at the split in the pathway, should she take the shortcut to the left or take the hill straight up through her neighbors property?? Before she continued, deciding that the new signd of no trespassing and private property were probably a message she should listen to, she noticed a strange tree that she had never taken notice of before at 300*. The large tree was a double but only one side was alive. She walked around the tree to get a closer look and found, under some rocks and leaves, School Daze.
