Take RT 7A to the town of Arlington VT.. Near the center of Arlington go right onto East Arlington Road (if you pass rt 313 or Stewarts you have gone too far). Follow East Arlington Road to Old Mill Road (at the Chipenhook store). Follow Old Mill Road, cross over the one lane bridge and turn right onto Kelly Stand Road. Stay on Kelly Stand Road for approximatley 6.4 miles. Turn left onto Forest Service Road 70 and continue to the end. There is plenty of parking and signs directing you to Branch Pond (left side of road).

Walk the trail to Branch Pond, easy walk, will take you about 10 minutes. Enjoy the view of the pond and then look for the letterbox on the way back to the parking area.

From the pond take 60 paces back along the trail. Look on the left side of the trail for a large rock (covered with moss and small foliage). Across from the rock find the large gnarled tree. The prize you seek is at the base of this tree in a secure place. Enjoy the beauty of the Vermont woods and the box.
