"Val Verde Cannon" Microbox

Status of Letterbox: No longer there, and not welcome at this park. Nasty note from caretaker, who does not seem to understand that this box was not located in an area that would harm anything, and would bring people to his remote litte park. What a shame!!!

Mexia, Texas – Limestone County – North Texas Prairie Region
Confederate Reunion Grounds State Historic Park

Date of Placement: 1/30/03
Difficulty: Easy
Total Distance to letterbox: About 50 yards
Placed by Baby Bear

Texas History Microbox Series

The "Val Verde Cannon" Microbox is located in Confederate Reunion
Grounds State Historical Park. The park has several historical
attractions, such as the 1872 Heritage House, 1893 Dance Hall, "Give-
em-Hell" Yell log cabin and the 1914 Miss Mamie Kennedy's Confederate
Flirtation Walk. This park is just north of Old Fort Parker.

Directions:

>From Mexia, go south on Hwy 14 to FM 2705, go right on FM 2705 for 3 miles to the park. Enter the park and locate the Val Verde Cannon in the middle of the
main entry parkway. Turn right and follow road down to 1st parking area on your right.

To the letterbox:

Walk under the white arch and up to the steel bridge. Cross the bridge. At the far end, locate the large tree on the left at 200 degrees. The microbox is at the base of this tree on the sough side, covered with bark and limbs.

Now you can go find Silver Eagle's Stamp!
