Wellesley Island is located on the St. Lawrence River between the American and Canadian spans of the Thousand Islands Bridge. Take Interstate 81 North over the bridge to Exit 51. Follow the signs to Wellesley Island State Park and proceed to Minna Nature Center. During the summer, there is a $6 -$7 entry fee to the park. At the nature center, pick up a trail map. Spend some time in the nature center if you have time (great kid's room!).

There are some awesome geological formations on the trail behind the nature center. Give them a look-see, and then head down Eel Bay Trail. Pass the intersection of Sand Cove Trail. Just a bit ahead is a boardwalk. From there, you can see a wall of rocks and dead tree branches. Continue on the path and climb right up. You'll come into an open area and will have an unobstructed view of the river. Enjoy counting little islands! Face the river and turn 180 degrees. You'll see a rock jutting 5 feet up from the ground behind 3 skinny dead trees. Behind this is another large rock. Go around on the left side. There are 5 small rocks on the left side, under which you will find an Evening Sail.

The park has over 8 miles of trails, so choose your own way home!
