The Chariot represents the struggles we have with ourselves and with life. It depicts the principle that human will functions best when the power of the whole being is put behind it. We must make the opposing forces within us work together to achieve an objective. Obstacles can be overcome with perseverence, honesty and diligence.

The Chariot is located in the oldest park in Westchester County, which was also one of the first "linear" parks in the country.

Park at the northern terminus of the park, near a large dam in a town named after the place where good Vikings went when they died.

From the parking lot, walk back towards the main road until you reach a sidewalk that crosses in front of the dam. Turn left onto the sidewalk and follow it across the plaza. Cross an asphalt road. At the path that begins just across the road, bear right, away from the dam. This path crosses a very busy road (watch out for those modern chariots) and picks up on the other side, where a marker welcomes you to the reservation.

Follow the mostly paved path. You will proceed under an overpass and pass a ball field on your left. While walking on this trail, you will probably experience three different kinds of "chariot." The path parallels both the road that it is named after and a railroad. On weekends, the path is very popular with cyclists, so be aware of those speeding two-wheeled chariots!

After a few minutes' walk, you will cross a road. The trail then continues across a bridge named after the town. A marker to your left just before you cross the bridge will tell you a little more about the location. You can see the dam to your right.

Just after the bridge, proceed down a small hill. A few feet past the hill, you should notice piles of rocks on either side of the trail. Stop here and look at the rocks--they appear to have once formed a wall. From the rocks on the right hand side of the trail, bushwhack about 40 paces along the "wall." You will come to a fallen tree. The Chariot is located at the base of this tree on the side closest to the road, under some sticks and leaves.

Stamp in and rehide well! And be careful--this is a very busy area on weekends--make sure no one sees you rehiding the box.

After stamping in, return to the paved path. You can now retrace your steps back to the car. Or, you can continue south along the path (which goes on for several more miles) and walk back when you're ready to go home.

Have fun and let me know if you find The Chariot! If you're planning to hunt for it, and you let me know when ahead of time, you just might see me out on the path, as I live very very close!
