“Two birds with one stone”

Start at Confederation Park (corner of Elgin and Laurier) at the bronze downtown map.

Look for the Chateau Laurier. What number is it on the map? Walk toward the fountain passing exactly this many lamp posts, counting those on both sides of path. Stop at the post number matching Chateau Laurier’s number.

Look around and note 2 birds, both with curved beaks. Choose the one that now partially reveals the words “Lord Elgin” from your vantage point and go to the base of this statue.

Walk around the statue and count the number of light grey diamonds surrounding it. Remember this for later.

Now choose a direct path to the other bird. Note the year British Columbia joined confederation and add the 4 digits in this number. Walk toward the white hexagon, the number of paces matching the sum of the digits.

From this new spot walk 90 degrees magnetic, the number of paces matching the number of diamonds at the first bird. Sit on the middle bench. Now look left and walk to the nearest statue.

This statue commemorates something. Note the year this something started. Take that number and divide it by 3. Divide it by 3 again. This result is a 3-digit prime number. Subtract 161 from this, and walk East the number of paces matching your result. You are now standing next to a lamp post. Count 4 upper limestones beyond this post. Sit down on this stone and discretely reach behind it and under the bushes. Here is one of the 2 birds. Sometime I'll make the other too.

Good luck!
