“Dead Fish”

“Dead Fish” is located at the “Outlet Park” in Melvern Lake that is near Melvern, Kansas. This is our first leterbox. So we hope that you enjoy it.

You can reach the lake from I-35. Exit at 75 Hwy and head North. Follow this for a few miles and look for the brown camping sign exit and follow the sign to “Outlet Park.”

Once in the park locate the “Long Creek Suspension Bridge”. It can be reached either from the Overnight Side or the Day Side.

Proceed to the end of the bridge, you will have to search each end. Look underneath the bridge at the ends, this is where you will find “Dead Fish.” It is between the boards and on top of the concrete support slabs, and was placed in the middle. The edge of the box should be visible to see when you are looking for it.

Items to bring are an ink pad and a flashlight may be helpful. Remember to watch out for wasps and other insects during the warm months. Also look out for trolls or other things living under bridges!

The “Outlet Park” is a very nice facility for camping or just spending the day, so you may wish to plan a trip around our box. It is one of our favorite camping sites.
