Grayson Highlands, you will get a map upon arrival.Locate the Cabin Creek Trail...(Massie Gap)
The surprise is the spectacular waterfalls themselves & the fact that they are not listed on the map or on any of the signs!!!
(but definately should be )
Go thru the roderdenron tunnel follow orange signs and yellow trail markers on trees.Crossing the stream twice, trail starts going down. Walk under the twin arms to the left. A boulder on the right with a broken tree over it. Cross stream two more times bearing around to the right. Now you will be on the other side of the stream going around a hill. You will pass a shelter on your left. WOW...
Some of the falls come into sight. Cross over a footbridge at top of falls pass a huge hollow log on the left then a three armed tree (1 big arm on the right and two smaller ones on the left)go under it. Go (8) steps from there & look to the right for the unusual hollow tree standing on the bank.Go around behind it & about 3-4 ft. up is your prize. After stamping go on up trail you will see the (Cabin Creek Elevation sign) & just past it a tree growing ontop of a boulder. WOW...GIANT falls now!!! Another sign will say (Falls Overlook) DON"T MISS OUT ON IT .
Then head back to where sign points back to Massie Gap looping you back around to the parking lot. This will be a much more level path.
Don't forget your camera, they are very awesome !!
Have a great hike and a picnic would be great there.
