Reported Missing
This may be the first box in Hancock Co. It is located in a municipal park that I believe is called Memorial Park in Fortville about 15 minutes east on Pendleton Pike from I-465. Once you locate the parking lot, roundtrip time will be less than 10 minutes. Hand-carved stamp. Blue and black stamp ink markers will make this one special. Kid friendly. Pets allowed. Very near a playground.

Clues: (replanted 1/20/05, moved slightly from original plant to higher ground

To find this park head East out of Indianapolis on 67 (Pendleton Pike) past Post Rd and Oaklandon. Your next big landmarks are a DQ on the right and a Liquor Store next to it that has a large pink elephant wearing glasses. As soon as you see these establishments, look for the second road on the left (Merrill to the north, but I think it has a different name if you turn right). It has a small white sign indicating Park, but if you're not looking for it you likely won't see it. The Greenfield Bank is on the corner there. If you miss the turn, don't fret, you can turn left at the stoplight. You will go over railroad tracks and then about 2 blocks until you come to Church St. Turn Left on Church. This road will take you into the park (about 2 or 3 blocks depending on which road you took). You will pass a softball field on your left and water works building on your right. Continue past the Boys and Girls club and stay to the main road (it branches left to a skating park and also right to another field or courts). Keep to the main road til you see a wooden one way sign directing you to the right towards "Little League/Sewage Plant". Pass the Memorial Park Shelter House and the restrooms. Veer left making nearly a U-turn and try to park in the few spaces on your right. You will be facing swings and slides on the south side of a brown building atop the hill behind you.

You should see a good sized shelter east of the playground. From the east end of the shelter take 26 paces (a pace = 2 steps) towards the pine tree on a heading of about 80 degrees. Now take about 28 paces from the 15 ft Christmas tree on a heading of about 80 degrees. You should now be able to see a large decaying deadfall on a hill between the creek and the road. At the root end, wedged under a piece of the root and covered by a piece of wood and sticks and leaves near the northwest end, is the camo taped box in a plastic baggy. I scared a rabbit, which then scared me when placing this box. Depending on the time of year, there may be a ballgame going on at the ballfield across the creek. Not sure how busy this park is, so be cautious of muggles and re-hide carefully. Let me know how the box is doing. Congratulations to Big Feet and Fever Fan, first finders!
