Take Bargate Trail from its southern end, to just before the first traffic circle (less than one mile). Turn around, and park as close to the curb as possible on the western side of the road. Look through the leaves/trees to see a KLCT sign and reddish-orange-with-white-dot blaze.

Take this feeder trail to the river
And then on right (reddish-orange blazes),
You're just three to five minutes
From a this box's site!

The Hammonasset River
Just gurgles along.
Follow close to it on the unmarked trail,
Past the treehouse (taken done, sorry!), go – but not for long!

Soon you'll spot four large boulders (and small ones) in the river,
Stretching south in a row,
A log connects them to the shore,
Step over it – then on you go!

Just past a mossy rock on your right,
You'll see a LARGE one on your left.
From the north, feel under its river-side edge,
To find the letterbox in its cleft!

Revised! Continue past this former location a short distance, until you see a double-orange-blazed tree with an arrow. Look behind the double-tree to the blazed tree's right. (behind third house down, after you reach the river and take a right)

Go back the short way you came –
That was easy and not too far.
Just past the fire pit head left,
Soon you'll be back to your car!
